The Art of Hair Removal
This problem keeps growing back, and every woman has unwanted hair. There are several ways to get rid of hair but I want to discuss waxing. Hair removal may be intimate and private to some women but others speak about it openly.
I have visited salons before where they do everything for you. I’ve gotta tell you the moment the beautician rips of that wax I want to kill her, the pain is terrible and you have to pretend its okay. Visiting a salon is more expensive and another thing, which I don’t like, are those cold hands.
Home waxing or DIY whatever you want to call it, works best for me. Take one day relax and get it over with, beauty isn’t pain free. Let me give you some facts and helpful tips.
Before Waxing
- Hot or cold wax, what will it be? Hot wax removes all of the hair whereas cold wax is stickier and the job is not properly done.
- Waxing lasts for 3-6 weeks.
- The whole hair and the follicle is removed
- Waxing is the best temporary means of hair removal
- Your hands have to be clean
- Ensure that the area you are waxing is clean and dry.
- Hair has to be at least 1/6” long
- If the hair is longer than ½” trim it a bit
- To avoid allergic reactions do a test on your skin first
- Follow the instructions carefully supplied by the manufacturer
- Apply a thin layer of powder before waxing, this will absorb excess oil
- Your hair cannot be wet because the hair is soft and will break
- Use paper towels to avoid wax dripping on clothing or towels
How to wax your legs
- Apply a thin layer of wax moving in the direction of your hair growth
- Put a fabric strip over the wax
- Use your hands and run over the fabric 3-5 times
- Remember you have to have a grip to pull of the wax and fabric so leave ample space
- Pull the strip off quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth
How to wax other areas
- In principal it works the same although the amount of wax applied will be less and on smaller areas
- You don’t need to apply a fabric, just the wax will do
- The layer of wax has to be thicker than with leg waxing
- While the wax is soft tuck up an area you can pull the wax off with
Who should not use waxing for hair removal
- People who have diabetes, varicose veins and phlebitis
- If you are using medication such as accutane, tretinoin, blood thinning medication, and topical/oral cortisone
- Avoid waxing the facial area if you have rosacea or very sensitive skin
- If you recently had botox, collagen injections, chemical peel or cosmetic surgery
I hope this has been helpful, I have found GiGi to be a very thorough and professional product, try it. Put on some tea tree after waxing this stuff works. Being rid of the unwanted hair makes the pain worthwhile, after all it doesn’t last for too long.
